This version is the story as I wrote it in the postpartum haze, in the days just after given birth. It’s a mix of field notes and journal entry. There’s also a Q&A section at the bottom.

This version is a lyric essay centered on the same experiences. It will eventually appear in Born At Home, a home birth anthology edited by Kate McCahill and published by The Santa Fe Writers Project.
